Robert G. Bates, Circuit ClerkRobert Bates, lifetime resident of Cullman County, residing on part
of the old family farm in the Trimble Community. Robert G. Bates was elected in 1982 and began serving the first
term in office as circuit clerk on January 18th, 1983. Elected as state
president of the Alabama Circuit Clerk's Association 2002-2003. Appointed in 2005 to serve on an advisory committee along with legislators, judges, sheriffs, attorneys and the secretary of state to study, reorganize and make revisions to the Alabama Election Laws. The task was coordinated by Bob McCurley of the Alabama Law Institute. The recommended changes became effective January 1st 2007, with the passage of # 2006-570. We were very fortunate to recently be able to upgrade both the circuit and district clerk's offices with the best technical equipment available. This will enable us to stay abreast of all the changes and improvements offered to our office from the Administrative Office of Courts in Montgomery. It is an honor and pleasure to serve the citizens of Cullman County and the State of Alabama as circuit clerk. It is the goal of the circuit and district clerk's offices, to serve all the people equally, honestly, with courtesy and to give the best service possible. Two of my favorite sayings are: "What we do for ourselves alone usually dies with us. What we do for others lives on and on and on" "It's never wrong to do what is right" |
